The Profile of Palaeontology Teaching in Undergraduate Courses in Brazil

Background: Currently, palaeontology professors have been challenged to update and incorporate innovative teaching approaches into their planning help students develop the necessary skills competencies. However, today there is a mismatch between current ideal profiles. Objective: To describe profile in undergraduate courses Brazil. Design: Descriptive exploratory study. Setting participants: Palaeontology (n=37) at several Brazilian higher education institutions. Data analysis collection: were collected through semi-structured online form (survey), triangulated categorised (a) general characteristics, (b) teacher education, (c) experience, (d) courses, (e) curriculum, syllabus, programme discussion meetings, (f) inter multidisciplinarity, (g) curriculum. Results: Despite limited scope (small sample size), study results guided focus of research improvement efforts, as are still many difficulties challenges be overcome raise quality across country. Conclusions: The data from this can serve valuable basis for professors-researchers, educational managers, policymakers interested implementing continuing programmes supporting management policy decisions regarding potential reforms
